I’m starting this post off with a quick update; I’ve recently landed a full time job that takes up quite a bit of my time so I haven’t been able to update entries as much as I want to. I like to talk about all new releases but I only have time to highlight a few. That being said, I’ll quickly name off a few releases that I might have missed that really deserve an entry.
The Nintendo Wii-U is out and its selling quite well, it starts at $299.99 for a basic set and $349.99 for a deluxe black set which includes a gamepad cradle and two stands for the gamepad and console. Its got a solid lineup of launch titles that should satisfy casual as well as hardcore gamers.
Other missed new release titles that caught my interest: Assassin’s Creed III(PC), RaiderZ(PC), Call of Duty: Black Ops II(PC, 360, PS3), Sine Mora(PC), Planetside 2(PC), Natural Selection 2(PC), Karateka(360), Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask(3DS), and Scribblenauts: Unlimited(3DS).
Without further ado, let me introduce the highlighted new release for today.
After about a year of hype this game launches with a bang, it may have come a little late in the year to make it as a nominee for SpikeTV’s VGA, but its just in time for the holidays and specifically launched on the 47th week of the year. This is the fifth game in the series and players will once again be taking control of Agent 47 to carry out missions involving assassinations, stealth infiltrations, brutal executions, and don disguises to go incognito. I mentioned in a previous entry the game will introduce an interesting twist that adds online interaction and replayability that challenges players to think creatively and be diverse in the art of the hit. Over time we’ll be seeing more and more interesting contracts to take on that require the hardcore skill that the series is known for. Don’t forget to check out TwitchTV for any livestreams/VOD if want to see how the game plays, or if you trust Conan you can watch his little segment of “The Clueless Gamer” below.
I’ll add some wallpapers here for your viewing pleasure. Also added links below.
The Halo series needs no introduction to anybody who’s familiar with gaming icons. Master Chief has taken his place alongside other iconic game heroes like Mario, Samus, Snake, Freeman, Ryu, Sonic, etc. and he’s not going anywhere. Halo 4 marks the start of a new trilogy set, Bungie Studios is moving on independently and 343 Industries will carry on the legacy they left behind. The lead composer for the game’s soundtrack is Neil Davidge, mostly known for his works closely associated with Massive Attack. The soundtrack is available on Soundcloud and iTunes, or Halo4Soundtrack.com.
The story for Halo 4 continues four years after the events Halo 3 and it will be introducing a Forerunner (ancient) planet called Requiem which will be the bulk of the campaign. The game will focus heavily upon further developing the characters of Master Chief and the AI Cortana.
Multiplayer modes are expanded upon and co-op campaign mode is back with split-screen 2-player or 4-player XBLA. This time all players will be playing as Master Chief. Checkout the links below for more about the game. I’ve also posted two wallpapers I’ve found visually appealing.
The next chapter in the story of Desmond Miles has arrived and it just gets better and better every time. This time Desmond will become acquainted with the Assassin known as Connor Kenway, a half-English half-Native American who wields a tomahawk and bow. Though the hidden blade has always been a staple to the series, every entry has striven to diversify the weapons and combat situations.
Assassin’s Creed III will be featuring a new game engine titled Anvil Next. The new engine has taken the team 3 years to develop and AC3 will be the first game utilizing it. Supposedly it is highly optimized to take advantage of the hardware potential of the PS3, Xbox360, and even the Wii U. Speaking of the Wii U, the game launches for it at a later date (November 18) and for the PC on November 20th.
I came across these videos recently and was impressed by their presentations. They’ve been around for a while but new to me and I hope you’ll enjoy watching them.
