Valve has released a patch to Portal 2 today which adds the quickplay feature to Co-op community made maps. Along with the patch, all Portal 2 owners are given a 75% off coupon to hand out to their favorite Aperture Science testing partner.
To utilize the Co-op quickplay feature, simply click on ‘Community Test Chambers’ from the main menu, and then click on ‘Play Cooperative Chambers’, and finally click on ‘Quickplay’ at the top. The quickplay feature allows the player to play on a randomly selected map whether it is most popular, most recent, top rated, or what your friends have recently played, rated, or created.
2-1/2 months away feels like a long time but it’ll come soon. I promise.
As a big fan of the series I’m excited to share with you about this new trailer featuring naval battles. While I’m pretty sure its not going to be a major part of the game, it certainly is a nice addition to the franchise. I can only hope that it doesn’t turn out to be a monotonous mini-game like the previous installment introduced their “Tower Defense” mini-game.
It’s not entirely clear how much control the player will have during these naval battles, but I hope Connor will at least be able to give firing commands.
Crysis 3 coming in February 2013
With the development of the new Cryengine 3 by the Crytek team they continue to push the franchise further with Crysis 3.
The video shown above shows off the graphical improvements made with their new engine. There is a detailed overview of all the terms that are shown in the video and a nice feature that lets you hide the effect to see what exactly the effect is doing shown here.
I’m curious how it’ll look once the game is out and optimized for consoles.
Crytek offers their SDK free of charge for non-commercial use.
